Over the last few years, Algeria has focused on creating the conditions for a better approach to environmental and renewable energies issues, based on numerous operations of resources preservation and protection. Legislative and regulatory corpuses are very rich, driven by international standards and supported by the requirements of sustainable development.
Our country is among the countries that have constitutionalized the right to the environment; the amendment of the constitution in March 2016 is illustrative in this sense. Thus article 68 is very explicit « the citizen has the right to a healthy environment, the State works for the preservation of the environment ». Also, article 19 of the constitution is a kind of transposition of the sustainable development concept « The State guarantees the rational use of natural resources and their preservation for the benefit of future generations »,
This qualitative constitutional jump decided by His Excellency the President of the Republic Abdelaziz BOUTEFLIKA is the culmination of the effort deployed by the State for more than fifteen years in terms of preservation of the environment and improvement of the citizen living environment in accordance with the sustainable development.
The fields of activity are numerous namely, the large-scale treatment of wastewater, the management of domestic and industrial waste, the diversification and economy of the energy and the establishment of a system of prevention against the risks of catastrophes are part of the activities that the public authorities are promoting as part of Algeria’s development program.
The contribution of our department is to participate in the diversification of the energy by 2030 from new sources of energy.
Demand for energy, particularly from photovoltaic sources, is in the process of being spatially localized (mapping) and precision by sector of activity through expertise launched by our Ministry in December 2017.
